Local Contractor &
Supply Chains

The Boolathana project will preference local contractors, manufacturers, suppliers and service providers in Carnarvon and the wider Gascoyne, directly and indirectly.

Goods and services supply chains established through development and construction are intended to carry through into operations — a project life measured in decades rather than seasons. For a regional economy built on pastoral and horticultural cycles, that kind of long-duration industrial demand is rare.

Training &
Pathways

Employment is the benefit that matters most, and the one most easily over-promised. GGE would rather build it than announce it.

The project is intended to create apprenticeships and employment pathways for young people in Carnarvon, alongside upskilling opportunities for the existing regional workforce as construction begins. Training and employment for Yinggarda and Baiyungu people is a priority, and one GGE will keep working at alongside the Traditional Owners and their representative bodies.

The honest position: engineering and construction planning will define the scale and shape of that employment. GGE will say what it can substantiate, when it can substantiate it.

The Gascoyne Green Energy Boolathana project is consistent with and an enabler of Diversify WA, the State’s economic development framework.  Energy is a key focus industry for the Western Australian government.  Its objective is to secure quality jobs (300,000 in the regions), grow and diversify the economy and attract investment to WA.  

The State Government recognises that the private sector and proponents such as GGE, play a critical role in the State’s economic future.  To assist the private sector, the State Government provides the strategic foundations for economic growth to include provision of a stable regulatory environment, appropriate infrastructure and sound fiscal management [1]

THE PROJECT
